Saw the Kishi Bashi show with the Barr Brothers at the Hamilton on Sunday night.
During the show K mentioned that he had time to kill and wanted to go the Avengers the next day and jokingly asked if anyone wanted to come with. At the signing that followed, I introduced myself and explained that I was totally down to come and would love to be a tour guide.
“Are you serious!?” he asked.
“haha. yeah.”
I mean, he is so unfathomably talented, why wouldn’t I want to be friends? That being said, he is a pretty awkward dude. I didn’t care and I wrote my number on an old receipt in my purse. Unfortunately, he never gave me a call. Oh well. Was worth a shot. Still love his stuff.
He does absolutely incredible things with pedals.
Was also a good time because I went with Roxie who works with me as a hostess. I had just met her two days before and it was nice that we became better friends (and also nice to find someone to come with me on my weird artistic adventures).
The Hamilton itself was a weird venue because it’s a sit down restaurant. Because of the tables and the eating/drinking there is little atmosphere and the crowd was generally older (seriously, Roxie and I were probably among the youngest in there).
Anyways, the song above is beautiful. Recommend checking out his NPR Tiny Desk concert.
I was never more certain of how far away I was from my goal than when I was standing right beside it.
